Our impact

Our vision is to learn together how to create healthier, thriving and fairer communities.

Now, we’re laying the foundations by working with council staff, community groups and local people to build research skills through learning and knowledge sharing.

We’re also identifying gaps in what we know and planning new research to fill them.

Soon, you’ll be able explore research projects, case studies and stories of the positive impact we’re making in the borough.

Our theory of change

A theory of change explains how and why we believe our work will lead to positive change. It shows the steps from what we do to the outcomes we want to achieve.

How we measure impact

To understand how things are changing, we track progress, learn from our work, and share what we find. We use a Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) plan, which means:

Measurement:

collecting and analysing data – both numbers and stories – to see what’s happening.

Evaluation:

using this data to answer bigger questions about what’s working and why.

Learning:

reflecting on what we find and adapting as we go.

We’re building a culture of collaborative learning by bringing council staff, community groups, local people, and researchers together to share insights and improve how we work. By using both numbers and stories, we can see where progress is happening and where more effort is needed.

Helping council and community group staff build skills in evaluation is a key part of our learning and development offer.
